PRP Restore

PRP Restore

What is PRP?

The body has an amazing ability to heal and restore following injury or trauma.  Following an event, platelets and other blood components locate to the site in need of healing.  Platelets contain a multitude of growth factors that help the tissues to heal after trauma.  PRP-Platelet Rich Plasma carries these healing components to the site of injury to restore health and vitality to the tissues.  Several modalities, including laser therapy and Microneedling as well as radiofrequency and ultrasound  are used by the Plastic Surgeon and Dermatologist to stimulate collagen and induce a healing process.  Dr. Shatkin uses a technique called PRP-Restore to potentiate the healing process from these modalities.  PRP and CIT (collagen induction therapy) in combination allow the skin to rejuvenate and restore its full beauty.

What Is Automated Micro-Needling?

Automated micro-needling is an innovation in aesthetics for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the skin’s texture, tone and color. Dr. Shatkin and his staff use Eclipse MicroPen® which is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.

What Are The Benefits of Micro-Needling?

The benefits of micro-needling can include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging.

Eclipse MicroPen® may also has a positive effect on the appearance of hyper-pigmentation, hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.

What Areas Of The Body Can be Treated?

Eclipse MicroPen® can be used on all parts of the body, including the: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

How Is The Procedure Done?

A sterile cartridge containing 12 points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen®.

Dr. Shatkin and his team will apply a thin layer of sterile saline to your skin and select the appropriate pen setting based on your unique needs.  When using PRP, the PRP solution will be applied to the surface of the skin and used as a lubricant for the smooth movement of theMicroPen® on the skin.  The needles then allow channels to open and facilitate the penetration of the PRP below the surface.

What Does It Feel Like?

The feeling associated with the Eclipse MicroPen® is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin.

While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.

How Long Does The Procedure Take?

The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

What Is The Downtime?

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.

The total healing time depends on the Eclipse MicroPen® setting used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Many patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.  Dr. Shatkin and his aesthetic team use Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) to reduce the redness and inflammation along with his topical Peptide Gel which allows for quicker healing.

When Will I See The Results?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months as the effect on the collagen and elastin fibers may take several months to reach full effect.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Improvement will be seen after a single treatment, however, Dr. Shatkin recommends for most patients to receive a series of 6 treatments spaced about 2 weeks apart.

For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars the treatment series may also include some deeper laser treatments in Dr. Shatkin’s Combination Rejuvenation protocol.
